We decided to go to Island Park to ring in the new year with some of Nick's extended family. We went up to the Kettle cabin and it is beautiful up there! We had a blast up there with the boys and the Kettles. Dan, Sandy, Danny, Jess & kids and us were all up there and stayed the night. We even got to see Les, Tiff and Missy with spouses and kids during the trip. We did some snowmobiling, sledding, playing in the snow, watching movies and drinking hot chocolate in the cabin. New Years Eve, Dan and Sandy made us a yummy prime rib dinner to help ring in 2013. The disposable roasting pan had a hole in it and was dripping the entire time. When we turned on the prime rib again at the end, smoke filled the cabin quickly and flames shot out of the oven. They raced for the fire extinguisher and baking soda and got it put out. We raced the kids to a smoke-free bedroom to watch a movie while it was airing out. The prime rib even tasted GREAT after all that smoke (didn't even have a smokey taste to it) but one New Years that we'll never forget!!! The kids went down early this year and the adults watched movies. Nick, Jess and I played games until midnight. Everyone went to sleep so Nick and I watched the tube for about 10-15 minutes before we heard crying from upstairs where the boys were sleeping. Nick raced up there and Easton threw up everywhere (including on Boston). We took two screaming kids to the bathroom to wash up and put them back into bed. Just as Easton was cleaned up and back in bed ... it happened again (this time all over me instead of Boston). We switched clothes again and washed up AGAIN. He woke up feeling fine and running around all day. The ride home was fine and when he got into bed ... the throwing up continued (must have had a stomach bug) but seems to be feeling fine now and knock on wood .... none of the rest of us have gotten it.
Well another year down and beginning 2013 with a baby girl on the way. We feel very blessed as we reflect back on 2012 and are excited to see what adventures we encounter in 2013.

Boston and Easton braved the sledding hill and LOVED It. By the end of the trip, Boston was even carrying his own sled up, helping carry Easton's sled up and going down all by himself (big deal for this little guy). He was very proud of himself as were we of him!
Steve and Leslie were taking their boys Ice Fishing at Henry's Lake and so we tagged along with some other family members as well. We didn't last too long out there before the sun went down and it got pretty chilly but it was a fun adventure. I know my dad and siblings had been ice fishing quite a bit but that's one thing I had never tried before (never really sounded enticing to me to sit out in the freezing cold with a pole and wait for a fish). I love fishing but ICE fishing never really sounded fun. The boys had a lot of fun sitting there watching them drill holes, helping scoop out the ice, and putting a pole w/ worms and goodies on it down in the water. Easton loved pulling the sled all the way from the parking lot across the lake to our spot for him and Boston to sit on. Nick and I had fun watching everyone enjoy themselves on the frozen lake and see the boys.

Boston enjoyed pulling Easton around on the sled and Easton enjoyed going for a ride .... check out that smile!!!
