Boston Swimming Lessons - Summer 2011

I don't know how many people know this hidden secret of mine ... but I did not learn to swim until I met Nick.  In fact, a few months into dating, he invited me to Lake Powell with his family (unbeknownst of my not knowing how to swim secret).  Well I quickly learned and now go scuba diving, swim, wake board, etc.  I still wish I was a better swimmer but want my kids to know how to swim and not be like their mother and learn at the age of 26. 

We put Boston in swimming lessons this year through my mom's cousin's (Liz) swimming company (SwimKids).  His teacher is Richelle and he really likes her.  She has been a great teacher and works well with him one-on-one at his level but still pushes him to succeed.  Boston has been really timid in the water and afraid to go under the water.  He was good for the first few lessons and then would cry and fight me during all the lessons.  This morning was the first morning in a quite awhile that we had no tears!  He was such a great swimmer today.  When Miss Liz told him he had a few minutes of 'free time' today and to choose whatever he wanted to do he replied, "Go under the water."  I was shocked.  The entire morning before he said that he wanted to go to swimming but did NOT want to go under the water.  I think we are making progress!  This week with swimming has gone much better.  These are a few pictures they took during his lesson last week.  Good Job Boston - we are proud of you!
