Dad Scott's Heart Attack

The day before Father's Day, Nick and Brad (and Nick's friend Brandon) all went fly-fishing up Hobble Creek (up Spanish Fork Canyon).  They left the house around 7:15, got Brandon and headed up the canyon.  They fished all day (even ran into Blake and Rylee on their horses up the canyon) but had a great time and said they caught lots of fish.  I hope I get the story straight because most of this is all second-hand.  When Brandon and Nick and Brad got back to the car from a long day of fishing, they said Brad was stretching and saying he was in pain.  At first they thought it was heat exhaustion or he was hungry from only drinking water and having wheat thins all day.  They started to drive down the canyon and Brandon noticed in the rear-view mirror that Brad wasn't doing okay and told Nick.  Nick asked if he was okay.  He said that he was having some sort of pain.  As they continued driving towards home, the pain was getting worse and his under-arms and legs were getting tingly to the point of no feeling.  Brandon navigated and Nick drove to the nearest hospital in route which was American Fork Hospital.  Meanwhile, the boys and I were getting things ready for Father's Day - we had just bought 4 pies at Marie Calendars and stopped by Kathy's house to drop the pies off for a Fathers Day dinner the next day.  While there, Nick called and calmly said, "Don't panic, drive fast and be safe, but my dad is having a heart attack."  We got in the car and attempted to drive to Provo with all the crazy construction (they were in transport in the ambulance from AF Hospital to Utah Valley Hospital in Orem/Provo while Brandon drove our car to Provo).  Thanks again to Brandon and Jodi for helping that day (it was Brandon's birthday that night and we were all suppose to be at their house that night but Brandon was at the hospital helping drive cars and then they took Boston back home for their party - all while everyone was arriving at their own home).  Thanks Brandon and Jodi!  We went to the hospital.  They originally thought he had a mild heart attack because he was able to walk himself into the hospital in AF.  Come to find out and after tests, they determined it was a very severe heart-attack he had that day.  They were in surgery by the time we arrived at the hospital to put 3 stints in arteries (one being his main artery) that were 100% closed off.  He still has one artery 100% closed and another one 60% closed off but they are not main arteries.  They also found out he has coronary arterial disease (heart disease) which they said can be managed by diet and exercise.  It was a scare to all of us.  He seems to be doing well now and we hope for his continued well-being and are so grateful Heavenly Father spared his life and that he is still with us all.  The entire time he was in the hospital, Boston was very concerned, "Is Papa still sick or is he okay?"

Nick spent the entire day at the hospital on Sunday with his dad for Father's Day. I got the kids ready and we joined them for the rest of the day.  I just wanted to say that I am so thankful for own dad as well who has taught me many things and continues to be an inspiration to follow.  I love you dad!!  We also love Brad and his zest for life and appreciate that he is still here to share more time with all of us.  And most of all, to the father of my children (Nick) - I love you so much and thank you for always being there for our boys!!  They love you and I appreciate everything you do and how hard you always work!  WE LOVE YOU!  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL FATHERS!!
