When we first arrived in Mexico, we went to get the rental car and headed to the resort to unpack. We had our own place, Whit & Eddie had their place, then Ry & Blake and Kathy & Brad had the main gathering place where we went to hot tub, eat and hang out. We played at the beach, in the pool, and had dinner at the resort the first night. We took our trip to Walmart and Costco to get our food and supplies for the week.
The next day we spent at the resort again in the pool, playing tennis, playing at the beach and enjoying the ocean and ended with a true Mexican Fiesta at our resort (Club Cascadas de Baja). The kids enjoyed dancing on the stage afterwards.
Saturday we enjoyed some more tennis, pool time (the girls did the water aerobics in the morning), had 2 for 1 sushis pool-side, then went to Lovers Beach. Blake and Ry kayaked over while the rest of us took a Glass Bottom Boat over. Our guide (Moises) took us over and showed the kids the sea lions, some fish through the glass bottom boat, a fish that he caught on the way over there, and took us around to see the Pacific Ocean. We also passed the Arch (Lovers Arch). The kids enjoyed Lovers - they would run from the waves and they swam in the ocean over there with us. They wrote their names in the sand - Boston was pretty proud of his name in the sand now that he can write his own letters and make words. We bought Boston his own snorkel gear before we left for this trip. Our last trip to Cabo (the boys were both fearful of the water). This time they LOVED it. Nick took Boston snorkeling for the first time by Lovers Beach. He LOVED being able to see the fish in the water. It was fun for us to see his excitement of trying it for the first time. He had his water wings on with his goggles and snorkel. He would put his head down in the water and come up with wide excited eyes ... "Dad, did you see this fish?" "Dad, did you see that prize winner fish down there?" He had a blast. Easton didn't use a snorkel but would put the goggles on, hold his breath and look down at the fish and really enjoyed it as well. More than anything, Easton loved chasing the waves up and down the beach. Whitney and I were suppose to kayak back but I was having too much fun watching Boston snorkel so Blake and Ry took the kayaks back while we stayed for just a bit longer over at Lovers. The weather over there for the week was in the mid 90's but felt much hotter with the humidity. The water was sooooo nice and warm. The water temperature was in the 80s - it was so nice for all of us to get in the water (warmer than the pool).
One of the highlights for the kids was Kids Club everyday. It was usually around 2-5 pm every day. We would play at the beach, pool or travel to a different beach then come back for the kids to go to kids club where they would watch a movie and do crafts for a few hours. The adults would use that time to play at the pool (kid free) and enjoy our virgin daquiris and pina coladas and relax. The kids LOVED this time every day and would count down when they could go there.
One day Boston and Rylee got sick (the day we were going to go to Santa Maria) so we decided to stick around the resort and play at the beach while they recouped. Boston slept by the pool with a pan the whole day throwing up. Everyone at the resort was so concerned and kept asking if he was okay and asking if they could do anything. The next day Whitney had something hurting in her ear so some of us went to Chileno Bay. The beach has had some improvements since the last time we visited. Blake and Ry joined our family - we packed a lunch and headed to Chileno for some snorkeling. Nick broke up some chips and sandwich to feed the fish so the boys could see them. Well we were literally surrounded by hundreds of fish once the feeding started. The boys could stick their heads in the water and fish were swarming around us waiting to be fed. They would try to eat Nick's fingers and one even bit his nipple and caused it to bleed. We had a great time at Chileno Bay this time.
The last day, the kids enjoyed their last day of Kids Club by getting their faces painted and having a pinata at the pool for all the parents to see. Boston usually doesn't like his face painted but for the rest of the day, he didn't want anyone to splash him at the pool or get his face wet. We had to beg him to clean it off that night. We spent our last night playing tennis and eating on the beach watching the ocean having carne asada tacos. Til Next Time Cabo ... what a great time. Thanks for the memories.
On our last day, we got to help release turtles into the ocean. A mother turtle had laid some eggs the month before and the resort next to ours was releasing them into the ocean. They released approximately 150 turtles into the ocean and we each got to release a couple turtles. The release them feet away from the water and you watch the turtles make their way down to the ocean and swept away. It was interesting to see and the kids loved holding the live turtles - making bets on which turtle would make it to the water first.
