We have spent a couple months trying to get some excavating done in our backyard so we can start landscaping it. We hired a guy to come and excavate...which he did. He told us we would probably have 1-2 truckloads of dirt ... we ended up having about 10-12 truckloads of dirt to haul away (called around and estimated $2,000 for just DIRT REMOVAL). We listed it on KSL and other social media to try to get rid of it. We finally got the dirt removed after lots of dirt and water problems. A huge rainstorm caused some problems and water started flowing into our window wells because the landscaper had piled the dirt over all of our raingutters and they broke. Nick dug some trenches and cleared a path for the water. Our trampoline hole that we dug was almost all the way full of water which took a week to drain (ahhh). We got rid of the water, finally got rid of the dirt, put our trampoline in the ground which the kids LOVE. We got our sandbox all done and are currently sanding and repainting a swingset to put there, and finished the side of our house (drop system for our garden boxes so we can finally garden again next year. I have missed having a garden the past 3 summers (moving out of our house, living with in-laws and building our house - NO GARDEN). I actually love the feeling of accomplishment after hard work of a garden and ready to grow some veggies again next year. It's all ready for it now! We have leveled out our back yard and deciding which project to do next!
