Flying over San Francisco, CA
Jodi and I (blue personalities) met about 10 years ago after we were both first married. We lived in the same apartment complex and we hit it off. Our spouses even got along great (yellow personalities). We have now been married for 10+ years, both have 3 kids and are only months apart from each other. Our husbands love to go play, play, play. We have talked about a girls trip for years and this was the year that we made it happen. We decided to go to San Francisco for a few days. Brandon and Nick took the kids while we enjoyed ourselves for a few days. It was such a fun trip!!! We stayed at the Marriott right by the airport. Our view was over the ocean and we could see the planes coming in and out over the ocean. We had breakfast each morning outside by this jogging trail and it was a lovely wake-up!!
The first day we were there, we checked into our hotel and got familiar with public transport there. We took the BART into town and took a bus and went to dinner at the Cliff House. It was farther than we thought it was going to be so we ended up walking quite bit. It was a beautiful place looking out over the ocean (too bad it was dark outside and we couldn't really enjoy the ocean beauty). It was still fun and GREAT food! It was our first time using UBER and had an UBER drive pick us up and drive us back to our hotel. We enjoyed the hot tub and comfy beds.
The next morning we went back into San Francisco and went to Alcatraz. Alcatraz is a rocky island in San Francisco Bay. It was the site for a top-security federal prison between 1934 and 1963 and since 1972 has been administered by the National Park Service for tours. It was very interesting listening to the audio tour and seeing and hearing all the people that were housed there and what happened at Alcatraz. After we got back from there, we saw lots of things in the next two days: Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 33, Pier 39, Embarcadero, Ghirardelli Square, Union Square, China Town, Little Italy, rode a cable car through town (waited in line for a long, long, long, long time), had San Francisco sour dough bread bowl with their famous Clam Chowder. That night we went to China Town and did some shopping went to the Floating Sushi Boat. The chef was in the middle and constantly making sushi. He would put them on floating boats in water that would float around and around. You could choose whichever sushi you wanted and paid per boat. It was fun and different. The next day we rode bikes from San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge and into the town of Sausalito (that was probably my favorite of all the activities we did). That night we did some shopping and lots and lots of walking around seeing the sites and ordered room service dessert that night when we returned to the hotel. The last day it was raining but we didn't have that long so we went into town and watched he latest James Bond movie and headed for home.
Jodi and I had a great time! She was a great traveling companion and we had a fun girls weekend. Can't wait for another one. While I was away, Nick finished putting together our swing set we bought this summer. We sanded and repainted it and he finished putting it all together while I was gone. Also, Payten has never been a great sleeper and it takes me hours to get her to sleep at night. Bedtime was not a fun time. While I was gone, Nick did some sleep training with her and she is an angel to put down at night now. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! It looks like I need to take more girls trips :)
