Grandma Dolores Monsen (Nov 1921 -Nov 2015)

My Grandma (my dad's mom) passed away just before Thanksgiving.  We changed our plans.  We were suppose to be in St. George with Nick's family but my grandma had a heart attack they think and passed away that same night.  They said she was not in any pain but for maybe a couple hours.  She had been in the hospital in August for some stomach pains.  Other than that, the last time she was in the hospital was when she had my dad in the hospital in 1959.  WOW!! She lived a healthy long life and I will miss her.  The things I remember most of her are when I was younger.  She watched Alexis and I a lot while we were younger.  We spent many hours at her home.  She always had a quilt on that she was working on and we loved spending time under her quilt frames playing house.  I remember the most when she would take us in the car and go look for new baby animals around town in the springtime....mostly listening to croaking frogs and blowing dandelions.  I remember working next to her in the garden weeding and always talking about those "friendly spiders" outside that we shouldn't bother.  She is the one who taught me the piano.  I never took lessons but what I can play, I learned from Grandma Monsen.  She always had treats in her storage room or above the freezer for anyone that came to visit.  We loved helping go under the house (she had a crawl space and it was always the favorite of the grandkids to be able to join her under the house).  I remember her making my favorite apricot jam.  I remember going down each Christmas season and my mom decorating my grandma's tree.  Alexis and I would hang Christmas lights in all her windows and then we would order pizza.  As she got older, I remember her sitting in her rocking chair watching my kids (her great-grand kids) play at her house.  She always seemed to love our visits!  She will be missed!!  I am grateful for the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and that Families are Forever. I know that I will see my grandma again!  I am grateful she is reunited with her husbands, parents, sister, and brother.  Until we meet again dear Sweet Grandma!  I LOVE YOU!!!
