Last night we took Boston to the Healing Fields in Sandy to see all the flags. It was pretty dark so the pictures didn't turn out so well but you get the idea. After September 11th, they started doing the healing fields in Sandy annually. The first year, they placed the exact number of flags representing how many lives were lost in the September 11th tragedy. This year they had lots of flags (1776) to represent when the Declaration of Independence was signed. We walked down the aisles of flags and saw names of people on the ribbons who had fallen. As I reflected last year, I couldn't help but remember where I was and what happened on that first September 11th. I heard the news on my way to work that day. As soon as I pulled into the office at work, there was a somber feeling in the office. The attorneys and staff spent the day watching the events of what happened. There were feelings of anger, sadness, awe, etc. I am so grateful we live in this country and for the freedoms that we enjoy. I am so grateful there are willing men and women willing to accept the call of duty to fight for those freedoms.
Where were you on September 11th?

Very nice post Kesha. I too am grateful!! Boston looks more like you lately ... :0) especially in that first picture. Cute cute cute!
Kesha... What an awesome experience! I didn't know that they did that... next year I guess. I think that September 11th will always bring back clear memories of where I was and what I was doing. I would always listen to my ipod on the way to school, so I didn't hear the news until 1:00 PM in math class, and everyone was shocked that I didn't know. For the next few weeks there were a lot of bomb threats downtown where I worked and it was really scary. I remember just thinking how the world had changed so much. I am so grateful to live in the US and to have people who are willing to fight for our freedoms. What a blessing it is!
I love your family picture in your blog heading!
On September 11th I was at home getting ready for my day. I do remember the somber mood all day at work.
I didn't get my Boston fix yesterday at softball :(
On Sept. 11 I was watching my next door neighbor who had been hit by a car and received some brain damage. His parents were at court and they needed someone to be with him. We were watching TV and whatever we were watching was interrupted with the news. I was in absolute shock and felt sadness, anger, etc. I can't believe it has been 7 years...
I love your post! I remember going to see the flags the first anniversary of the attacks with your. The morning of September 11th I was at home with you getting ready for work. I heard about it when I got to work and I just remember spending that whole day watching the news. I worked for Discover Card at the time and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter was on the bottom floor of the twin towers. They closed all of our offices and sent us home. They wanted to make sure that those employees that worked in the towers were okay. I spent a lot of time in front of the tv, as I'm sure everyone else did as well. What a scary time for our country.
I have never heard of the Healing fields. That is awesome.
We should take our kids there next year. They were really interested in it all yesterday.
On that day, Kenadee was only 4 months old & Kenny & all his brothers were in Denver for a Broncos game.
Kenadee had woken up really early in the morning & I just brought her in bed with me. Instead of going back to sleep I turned on the T.V. in our room & was totally shocked & freaked out. I saw it all unfold & even saw the 2nd plane hit. It was just so unbelievable!
Kenny was suppose to fly home that day. He was stuck at the airport & there was no coming home!
I just remember watching it for like 3 days straight. It took Kenny that long to get home. No flights at all & no rental cars. His Dad ended up driving to Denver to bring all the boys home.
Watching it all every year just brings back all the same emotions & I can't help but feel over whelmed, blessed, & such a loss for everyone involved.
Wow! How was that for a comment?
You guys are ALWAYS doing cool things. I don't think Mike and I even remembered it was 9-11. Sad huh?
I remember being glued to the TV that morning, skipping class at the Y and bawling my eyes out.
PS Totally random but I love the family picture at the top of your blog.
