I am finally getting around to posting a few pictures of our new addition. My due date was January 20th. I was scheduled to be induced the morning of the 21st. The night of the 20th, the hospital called and told us that we could come in around 9:30 or 10 in the morning. Nick and I thought that was perfect ... a morning to sleep in before we got no sleep again. We fell asleep and around 5 a.m., I got up to go to the bathroom (nothing new) but was having a few contractions. I couldn't fall back asleep and thought I was just anxious and nervous to be induced. The pains started coming on really strong and I knew I was in labor. I told Nick and he suspected I was just nervous as well. I got in the bathtub thinking that would help the pain but it only seemed to intensify. I told Nick to pack his bag because we were going in a little early. "I thought I got to sleep in" was his response. Well the hospital called a few minutes later and asked if we could be in at 7:30. We said yes and started getting ready. My mom was at the house with Boston so I felt relieved not wondering where he was going to go. I couldn't wait any longer and we left. We arrived at the hospital about 7 a.m. and I was having contractions every few minutes and they were really strong. As I stood at the registration desk, I had one contraction after another in about 3 minutes so they decided to postpone registration and move me quickly into a room. I was dilated to a 4 and 90% effaced. Things seemed to progress rather quickly after that. I got my epidural which didn't take on my left side. They tried again...still nothing. They took the epidural block out and put in another one. Needless to say, by the time Easton decided to come, it wasn't quite numb. My mom and Nick's mom were both at the hospital during this process (Whitney was watching Boston - thanks Whit). They stepped out of the room while the doctor checked me. I went from an 8 to a 10 rather quickly and began pushing for only 15-20 minutes (which was a lot better than the 2 1/2 to 3 hours of pushing with Boston). Out came our precious Easton Walker Scott at 10:07 am on Thursday, January 21, 2010 weighing in at 7 lbs 13 oz (exactly one whole pound bigger than Boston) and 21 inches long. He is beautiful and we're so excited to have him in our family.
We were worried how Boston would do with a little sibling seeing that he gets very jealous when mom would hold another baby or give attention to anyone else. He has been an angel with his baby brother. He is always always helping. Baby Easton bought Boston a little gift (a new train for his Thomas the Train set and a new car from the movie Cars which he is infatuated with right now) so he thought that was the coolest thing. Every day he asks to hold Baby Brother...granted it is only for about 5-10 seconds but he loves him. Whenever I change him, Boston will run in and get a diaper and the wipes and tell me that we need to change his brother. He always gets in his face and in the quietest little whisper says, "hello buddy, hello. we love you. we do." He has adjusted incredibly well. We still have to keep an eye on him. Yesterday I was in the other room and came in to a completely covered baby. Boston said, "Brother was cold so I put a blanket on him." Yes he did...over his whole body. Then last night while getting stuff ready for bed, Boston thought it would be fun to play cars with baby brother. I came back to about five cars on his belly and Boston driving them all over him in his bouncer. He kept saying that Brother was playing cars with him. I thought the transition would be difficult but so far, he has adjusted rather well. We have two of the most amazing little boys ever and we are soooo very grateful that our Heavenly Father has entrusted us with these two wonderful spirits. They are both so mellow and easy going (so far - hehehe). We think they will be best buddies and are so glad to have these little ones. Now I just wish I could remember how to get these little ones' days and nights changed around!!!
