Island Park

A couple of weeks ago, we took a trip to Island Park to stay with Austin and Cassie and their kids. We had 6 kids in an A frame cabin and it worked out just fine with all the kids. Boston LOVED playing with Brayden and Madison and loved their sandbox. In fact, he wanted to stay there and not come home. Thanks for a fun weekend Crystals!! Austin and Nick took the drift boat to Island Park dam and fly fished, went on a canoe ride, we rode four wheelers, fed the fish, watched some movies, played some games, ate, and had a few campfires to roast hot dogs (and my favorite...s'mores). MMMMM Drew and Boston watching a movie inside the cabin Having a hot dog roast for lunch Riding four wheelers Here is the sandbox that Boston didn't want to leave. Everytime we walked out the back door ... the temptation of the sandbox was staring him in the face. That's where he spent the majority of the trip. Boston enjoying the tire swing Trip to Big Water to see and feed the fish The dads were brave and decided to take the little ones down the river in a canoe. They took Brayden (6), Madison (4), Boston (3), and Drew (19 months). They had a blanket in there, lunches and snacks for all the little ones, 4 little bodies, bug spray, oars and themselves in the canoe. As we launched the canoe, Cassie and I could see it was pretty tipsy ... we ventured off and took a trip to West Yellowstone while the guys were canoeing. When we were all finished and headed back to meet up for Pizza near Macks Inn ... we got a call saying they were finished. At our pizza dinner, the kids informed us that the canoe had tipped. The guys said about half way down the river, little Madison was running from one side to the other to see the fish, Austin lost an oar and went to grab it quickly ... and the canoe turned over. Four little bodies hit the shockingly ice cold water. Two dads tried to get four little bodies to shore, then swam down river to get their lunches, towels, blankets, oars and boat. Meanwhile, group after group passed asking if they could help (let me paint the picture...two frantic dads swimming down stream trying to retrieve all the gear and four bawling kids on the shore with mosquitos swarming around and all their stuff floating down the river). Cassie and I asked if they wanted to go on another canoe ride and we got three bold answers of "NO WAY." When we were in Hebgen last week, Boston kept asking if the ski boat was going to tip over. We had to reassure him that it would not tip over. He kept saying, "I don't want to go in a tippy boat dad." (Before canoe tipped) - don't they look so cute and like they are having such a fun time??? Cassie ... this video is for you! Austin and Nick's float trip - beautiful place!!
