New Years 2012

On New Years Eve, we got in our Utah attire and went to the Nelson's house to watch the Utah game.  GO UTES!!  We had some good food and then the kids made a gingerbread house (and ended up eating all the candy off it before we could get it finished) but loved making it.

While we were there, Boston had an incident with the treadmill and this is what his back looks like.  Poor little guy won't move his right arm because he says when he does, it hurts.  I imagine it pulls the skin and burns more when he moves his arm so we've been helping him take his pants down to go to the bathroom, get dressed, etc.  Everytime we try to dress it with clean bandages, he screams for about an hour.  It is painful to watch.  Hopefully it heals soon.

After the game, we ran to the grocery store and then to the Ericsons to count down the New Year.  We ordered take-out from TGIFridays.  The kids played toys, got their jammies on, and watched movies.  The adults ate dinner and played some mad games of doubles ping-pong!  Nick bought some fireworks that we set off and we watched the ball drop ... then it was home to bed and up early for church the next morning.  I am looking forward to having 9:00 am church for our kids' sake!

After church, we packed up and headed up to the cabin for the night with the Ericsons again.  We got into the cabin and it took a few hours this time to warm it up.  I turned the oven on to start dinner and it stopped working and wouldn't work the entire time we were up there.  I guess I will start looking for a new stove/oven for the cabin.  I then had to be creative on our cooking up there this weekend.  We cooked a lot on the George Foreman grill (ever had french toast grilled on the George Foreman?  I now can say ... yes).  The stove went out, Josh got sick with the stomach flu the entire time we were there...all these things made for an interesting trip but we still had fun.  That night we played the marble game.  The next day, we had breakfast and played outside in the little snow that was up there.  There was barely enough snow to snowmobile into the cabin.  In fact, we couldn't drive all the way to the cabin.  We had to park in the upper lot and haul our stuff down into the cabin.  We still had a great time.  The kids played on the swingset, hiked around in the snow and Boston and Easton pushed each other on the sleds and were laughing hysterically at each other.

Poor Boston! Remind me to tell you a horrible story about a treadmill. They can be so dangerous for kids..
