Last year for Memorial Day we went to St. George with my sister and Mike. This year we were going to but ended up deciding to go to the cabin for the weekend. My sister Taylor and brother Logan joined us for the weekend as well. We wished the weather would have cooperated with us just a little more but we still had a great time. We left Friday and met everyone in Oakley and headed up to the cabin. We unloaded our stuff that night and ate dinner. We all watched a movie and fell asleep.

And yes ... these are snowflakes you see in this picture! It would NOT stop snowing on us! |

Saturday when we woke up, we knew the weather that day was suppose to be bad so we hurried up with our french toast and sausage breakfast. Nick, Logan and Mike all headed to the lake to do some fishing from Mike's raft he brought up. Taylor and I took the kids up to the lake - they walked all the way there themselves (pretty impressive little hike for those little legs). We fished and floated in the raft while Gage had a nap back at the cabin with Lex :) (all the while she was wondering where we were so she went on a little walk). As we were up at the lake, the rain decided to come and it didn't stop that day ... rain and snow mix the rest of Saturday into Sunday. Mike and Nick had taken the truck back up to the lake Saturday evening and it rained more! Well ... unfortunately we had to leave the truck up at the lake until Monday morning. It was too rainy and muddy to bring it down the hill. We were afraid it was going to slip into the lake and then down the mountain. We were all worried it wasn't going to dry up enough to bring it down but it finally did by Monday afternoon. Also that afternoon as we were packing up getting ready to head back to the cabin, Logan began walking to the truck and came upon a HUGE moose in his path. She was coming down to the lake for a drink - it was fun to watch her for a bit (although she wasn't a fan of us watching her). That night we had homemade chicken enchiladas, chips and salsa.
Sunday after our sausage, egg and cheese mcmuffins and fruit breakfast, we gave Gage a bath in the sink and then took the kids out and they played in the jeep, played on the neighbors' zipline (Logan did the zipline and then thought it would be fun to show the boys how to do it backwards. I guess we were too busy watching and not telling him how close the tree was to his back ... and WHACK! The tree stopped him) The kids played on the swings, threw rocks in the river, found a snake, threw some more rocks in the river and watched more movies and played games while it was raining. Alexis and I attempted our first real try at Dutch Oven cooking. We did some yummy dutch oven potatoes and chicken. That night Nick also built a fire and we roasted marshmallows and had s'mores. Taylor turned us onto a new idea ... peanut butter on graham crackers and then chocolate and marshmallows ... they were delicious and I think my new way to cook s'mores.

This was snapped just a second before the tree stopped Logan |

Taylor learned to ride my dirt bike this weekend. |
Monday was such a nice day and everyone had to pack up and go home that day. We went to the lake and caught a frog, some butterflies, some fish and enjoyed the lake. We came back and had a hot dog roast (and more s'mores) then everyone headed out. Nick and I stayed with the boys and did some additional cleaning for Grandma Scott since she's coming to the cabin this weekend. We took the boys for another four wheel ride and went on a little hike near the lake. What a fun weekend I had spending with my family (wish my brother Jordan could have joined us this weekend but he was busy working). Missed you Jord!

On our hike, we came across this pile of poo ... what are your thoughts? Is it from a BEAR???????? |
And in honor of Grandpa Scott and Memorial Day, we hung Grandpa's flag at the cabin on Monday for him to see!!
