Mother's Day Weekend 2012

I have had a cold the past week and over the weekend didn't feel like doing much so I agreed to going up to the cabin and just relaxing.  We didn't invite any friends so I didn't feel I had to 'entertain'.  It was a nice get away for the four of us.  We got roped into stopping at McDonalds on the way up there for dinner (not my choice for dinner) but we had McDonalds and then headed up.  We got a Redbox (Alvin & the Chipmunks Chipwrecked) and Boston has watched it about 5 times I think already (time to return it).  We played Hi-Ho Cherry-O board game and then we got in bed and watched a movie and had snacks.  We slept in, made a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast and relaxed.  Nick's dad came up to the cabin in the afternoon and the two of them got some things ready for Grandma to come up in June to the cabin.  They turned the water on, swept off the patios, got out the fire place, BBQer, took out the stove that doesn't work and hauled it out to the truck, and did some cleaning.  I dusted the inside of the cabin and the boys watched a movie, colored with water, and played outside collecting sticks.  We went for a four wheeler ride (the boys love the four wheeler), went for a ride in the paddle boat, and then threw out some fishing lines for about a half an hour before heading home.  It was relaxing.

Mother's Day we invited Nick's family (Brad, Kathy, Whit, Eddie, Sadie, Spencer, Blake, Ryler, Gma Davis, and Gpa Davis) over and had a Mother's Day dinner.  Grandpa and Grandma Davis came over - Gpa Davis had a stroke last weekend and ended up in the hospital.  He has been having trouble remembering things and it is very frustrating.  Their kids have been taking turns driving them around, making dinner, paying their bills, taking over their money management, and running errands for them so we decided we would do a meal for them on Mothers Day with everyone.  We had lobster, shrimp skewers, steaks, twice baked potatoes, fruit, roasted veggies, Texas Roadhouse rolls/butter, salad and ended with some brownies and ice cream.  MMMMM!!   The kids played outside on the new trampoline we got from the Johnsons (thanks again M&M).  They LOVE jumping on it and mom likes it because it is a 2 ft. tramp instead of the normal 4 ft. so I feel a little safer having them on it (paranoid mom).  Nick and the boys bought me a massage (can't wait to use that) and I picked out a huge picture for our house for the dining room.

I love being a mom and feel so lucky to have the two little boys that I have.  Being a mom can be exhausting and frustrating at times but it is an overwhelming blessing and very rewarding most times.  I never knew it would be so fun to play in the dirt, collect sticks, throw rocks into a roaring river, ride four wheelers/snowmobiles, and play super heroes at home with these two fun boys!  They make me smile and also make me have a great appreciation for my own mom who raised me and sacrificed for me and our family.  I missed being able to be with my own mom on Mother's Day and just wanted to tell her ... Thank you mom for being the best mom! I appreciate your dedication, selflessness (didn't realize how much moms go without until I became one).  Everyone gets put first and mom comes last but it doesn't matter - that's what makes us happy!  Motherhood is seriously the most rewarding job ever!  I am so proud of my two little boys and what they've accomplished so far in their few years of life and love them with all my heart!

Looks like it was a great weekend for you. Nothing like the mountains to help with the relaxation!
