Deer Creek - August 12-13, 2011

This past weekend, we went up to Deer Creek and took the boat out again.  We went with our dear friends the Nelsons and had another fun weekend of memories for the Scott-Nelson book.  My brother Logan (15) joined us for the weekend as well.  Papa (Grandpa Brad) joined us for the camping but the kids were too much fun for him to join us on the boat.  We went to Deer Creek on Friday night and set up camp.  We had a dutch oven meal (wasn't the greatest that night - sorry folks) and then cooked smores around the campfire and talked until close to midnight.  The kids played and played in the dirt with their shovels, pails, tractors, and most fun of all a plastic bowl and spoon (why do I buy toys?).  They were all covered from head to toe in DIRT.

We all went down for the night and around 2 am, Jaxson woke us all up with his crying.  He finally was consoled and fell asleep.  Around 5:30 am, Easton woke everyone up again with his crying (but he was never consoled) ... I ended up in the truck around 5:45 driving to and from Heber to try to get him to fall asleep (my parents were staying in a hotel in Heber - should have just crashed their party and left Easton with them) but he finally decided to fall asleep and we went back to the camp parking lot and slept in the truck for a few more hours.  We had some breakfast and took our time getting on the lake.  We all got on the boat and had some fun.  My brother and Brandon did a little wakeboarding.  We all did some swimming and had lunch on the water.  The rest of the afternoon was left for some tubing.  All the kids enjoyed the tube this time.  I even attempted driving the boat for a bit this time.  We had so much fun on the tube until the rope broke when Jodi and I were on it (I think it was due to the guys trying so hard to get us dumped and our incredible holding on that the rope just finally snapped).  hehe

I trailered the boat (still need a little practice at this) and loaded up our camp spot.  We started to eat dinner (kids had all eaten) when the storm quickly approached.  We loaded the kids in the trucks, grabbed the remaining food and camp chairs and got inside for it to start pouring.  We headed home to a nice comfy bed!  Thanks for a fun weekend Nelson clan!!  Boston will be talking about this trip with Sydney for awhile!
