Five years ago, we were blessed with this special, caring, mellow, sensitive, and loving little boy BOSTON! I can't believe that he is already five years old but they have been the best five years ever. He really is such a loving little boy and always concerned about everyone around him. This year, he chose to have a birthday party at home and he chose Super Heroes. I had this great idea to make super hero capes for everyone (Nick got roped into helping me stay up until 3 am the night before the party to finish cutting them out and putting them all together). It turned out to be a fun party for him and his friends but it was a lot of work. We began the party by having a face painter (thanks Shantelle for lending your mom's talents for our party - she did a FANTASTIC job!) The kids loved their faces - we had Batmans, Spidermans, Butterflies and Flowers, Sparkles, Ladybugs and Spiders! Then we went to the back yard for some games. We played "Pin the "S" on Superman", spray the villains where the kids had to use the spray guns to shoot the villains who were on glued on helium balloons and staked in the grass. Then we had a target and the kids had to shoot their villain spray (silly string) at the target. Nick's cousin, MaryAnn was gracious enough to hold up the sign (and I think she regrets now offering because she was COVERED in silly string and then had her own daughter's party to attend right after our party - sorry MaryAnn), then they had to take boxes and bricks and build up Gotham City and then knock them over. They also had balloons with candy hanging from the tree and the kids jumped on the tramp and tried to pop the balloons to get the candy out. It wasn't exactly how I had planned out since there were so many kids (20 or so to be exact) but I think the kids had a fun time. Then we went inside and opened presents (any kid's favorite party of the party) and then had Cake (BATMAN CAKE) and ice cream. I had hoped everyone had fun at the party. That night before Boston went to bed, he leaned over and whispered in my ear, "Mom, that was the best birthday EVER." Boy, was that the best thing this mom could hear after her hard work. That was worth every lost hour of sleep :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOSTON!! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!! WE ARE SO GLAD WE WERE BLESSED TO HAVE YOU JOIN OUR FAMILY FIVE YEARS AGO!!!!
