Camping and Boating at Deer Creek with the Nelsons

On August 17th, the Nelsons and Scotts took their families up to Deer Creek or Round 2 of Camping/Boating.  We tried it last year.  Jaxson and Easton didn't sleep very well (I think Jaxson woke up around 3 or so and Easton woke up screaming at 5 am and him and I had to leave in the truck since our campsites were so close to others).  This year ... all FOUR kids slept through the night and LOVED being up there.  We got up there in the evening and set up camp right before it got dark.  We cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and the kids had fun roasting marshmallows over the open fire.  I even got some glow in the dark sand (I thought it was pretty cool but I'm not so sure Nick loved it).  I loved it for the mere fact that we were camping in the woods and it wasn't at my house that I would have to clean sand up.  It GLOWED in the DARK ... the kids enjoyed playing with it (Boston and Sydney just didn't love it on their hands).  I think we all got to bed close to midnight.

Saturday morning, we woke up and ate breakfast (cold cereal, muffins and fruit to be easy).  We sat around and talked for a bit, packed up our camp before it got too hot and headed down to the lake for the rest of the day!

Brandon and Nick enjoyed some time fishing (Please note Brandon with the pink Barbie pole and Nick with the red Lightning McQueen pole) and YES ... we caught some fish on these little poles!!  Well Brandon was the lucky one this time and caught  few fish and the Scotts unfortnately got skunked this time fishing.

Silly Kids!!

Super Hero Boaters!
It takes a lot to get Boston out on the tube.  We decided to show him the signs for being out on the tube to help the driver out.  Thumbs up = Go Faster (which he NEVER USED), Thumbs Down = Go Slower and then the sign for STOP / I'M DONE.  This picture is of Boston telling Nick to SLOW DOWN (and I think he was going less than 5 mph.

Boston trying to show Sydney a worm ... she didn't want anything to do with that worm!!

The Nelson/Scott annual Deer Creek boating/camping outing was a success!  I can now mark that off my list of things I wanted to accomplish before summer ended.
