Brad's Open Heart Surgery
From my previous post, you know that Nick's dad had a heart attack in June Father's Day weekend while fishing with Nick and Brandon up Hobble Creek Canyon. He did a few tests in the following weeks (including an eco-stress test) which showed that he needed open heart surgery. He got the results back on a Friday, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday and had quadruple bypass surgery on Monday, July 30th. That week was a long one. Nick worked almost every day and then spent the evenings until midnight or later in the hospital with his dad watching over him and making sure he was okay. He was able to come home the following Sunday and is at home recovering now. We are all glad that his surgery went well and his recovery is going well too. Tuesday morning, the 31st which was Boston's birthday, they had to reopen him because of high blood pressure (they thought he had fluid around his heart) but luckily there was not. He spent 4 or 5 days in the ICU at St. Marks Hospital and was released Sunday evening. The kids were bummed because they could not go visit him since he was in ICU. He was ready to be out of the hospital and has done better out than he did in the hospital. Things went well and he is home recovering. Love you Papa!
