Day 2 started out very early. We woke up around 2:00 am to get ready and get our gear so we could drive to the bike shop and check in by 3 a.m. for the Haleakala Sunset/Bike Ride. They outfitted us with bikes, helmets, rain/wind gear.

Waiting at the Haleakala Bike Co. |
and transported us to the top of the Haleakala Volcano where we awaited a beautiful sunrise. They said the top of Haleakala is now close to 11,000 feet above sea level. When we left the hotel, it was about 75 degrees. When we reached the top of the volcano, we were freezing at about 35 degrees. We waited for the sunrise and saw the most beautiful sunrise. You could see the volcano and then a sheet of white clouds with the sun rising above the clouds.
After the sunrise, they took us down the mountain a bit and let us loose (I think Haleakala Bike Co is the only tour group that allows you to do a self guided tour back to the shop) so we chose that company. It was fun to be in our group and RACE down the mountain on our bikes. Half way down, we stopped at a little place called Kula Lodge for a yummy breakfast. It was such a fun bike ride, sunrise and breakfast.

After our bike ride, we stopped off at Costco and bought some boogie boards and headed to Big Beach (where the swells were HUGE that day).
After a couple hours of boogie boarding, we all got ready and headed to dinner with all of the Presidents Club members from ADP Advanced MD. We had lunch that night at Longhi's at the Wailea Shopping Center (walking distance from our resort). I have to admit that this was not my favorite dinner and probably wouldn't recommend it but loved sitting with everyone enjoying the outside air of Hawaii and talking with everyone else. After dinner, we met a few couples in the lounge and played a little Texas Hold'em and then headed to bed since we had been up since 2 a.m. Day 2 = ANOTHER SUCCESS!
